Head of Service – Safeguarding
Interim contract 3-6 months
Inside IR35 - £550 per day

A fantastic opportunity has arisen within a local authority in the Southwest for a Head of Service – Safeguarding to join for an initial 3-month interim period. You will be joining an ambitious improvement journey, committed to delivering consistently excellent outcomes for children and families. My client has adopted the Family Safeguarding Model (FSM) and embedded it within their Child in Need of Help and Protection and Court Proceedings service areas.
About your role as Head of Service – Safeguarding
1. Support the Service Managers to oversee and improve performance within the Child in Need of Help and Protection and Court Proceedings service areas.
2. Ensure robust oversight of the PLO (Public Law Outline) process and legal planning.
3. Work closely with Early Help teams to facilitate effective ‘step down’ of statutory work to community-level support.
4. Engage with key partners to embed the Family Safeguarding Model and ensure its long-term sustainability.
5. Play a pivotal role in maintaining the pace of improvement and providing leadership during this crucial phase.
Your required experience as Head of Service – Safeguarding
1. More than 2 years’ experience at a minimum at Head of Service Level across statutory functions for children's safeguarding.
2. Active registration with Social Care England.
3. Strong analytical skills to manage data and reports.
4. Robust understanding and management of thresholds and safeguarding practice.
5. Hands-on approach to management.
6. Available references for most recent 2 years' roles.
