This role sits within the IT Services department, part of the Directorate of Technology, Estates and Facilities (DTEF), which provides outstanding work, study, and research facilities, as well as facilities to enhance the student experience, both on campus and online. Research and Faculty IT support teaching and research within the University. This can range from 1:1 specialist support, helping users access all of our research systems to assisting with new data applications. Research and Faculty IT at the University of York With a focus on Health Sciences and Social Science departments, you will provide embedded Research IT support assisting with technical and policy issues, supporting staff in their use of IT, specialising in software used, developing and delivering relevant training. You will also support and develop the University’s Data Safe Haven. The current facility is undergoing a refresh, this gives the successful applicant an opportunity to play a large role in this project whilst also learning and developing new skills, including the use of cloud technologies. You will also support and signpost academics to other appropriate digital research tools such as the Viking HPC cluster and Azure Virtual Desktop for Research. Supporting their development where appropriate. This role is also very flexible, we have had people within Research and Faculty IT bought out on exciting projects, putting you at the forefront of research and teaching in the UK. You will work across departments within the faculty, providing cover and appropriate support. You will work closely with other teams across Faculty IT, IT Services, and the wider University community. The right person for this role will have an interest in technology and data security policy, and above all be friendly, approachable, and flexible.
