The Nepean Mental Health Centre provides inpatient care for people experiencing acute mental health issues through the short-stay Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC), the Acute Mental Health Unit, Mental Health High Dependency Unit, and Older Persons Mental Health Unit. We support our Patients by linking them to case managers for ongoing treatment and support within an environment appropriate to the person's needs. Child, Youth and Family Mental Health (CYF-MH) provides services to children, young people, and their families in the Penrith, Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury and Lithgow community where mental health issues are seriously impacting on their emotional wellbeing, relationships and day to day functioning. CYF-MH offers mental health assessment, psychoeducation, clinical support and specialist intervention services. CYF-MH is committed to working collaboratively with families and the systems around them to provide person centred, trauma informed and recovery orientated care. A s a Senior Clinician the CYF-MH Family Therapist is required to demonstrate clinical specialty in systemic interventions and family therapy as well as providing clinical leadership across the Child, Youth and Family Mental Health in their specialty area. The CYF-MH Family Therapist will provide family and systemic interventions to clients across Community Child and Youth Mental Health teams. What you will bring to the role Must hold a Tertiary qualification, professional registration/membership as follows; Clinical Nurse Consultant 2- Registered Nurse Division 1 with AHPRA; post grad qualification in family counselling and/or therapy with minimum 5 years clinical experience in mental health and at least three years full time equivalent experience working with families; Social Work- Degree in Social Work from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership of the AASW; Occupational Therapy- Degree in Occupational Therapy and current AHPRA Registration; Snr Psychologist- Psychologist registered with AHPRA and have completed a minimum of 1-year full time equivalent at the 9th year of service for a psychologist; Clinical or Counselling Psychologist - Accredited post-graduate Masters or Doctorate degree in clinical or counselling psychology and General Registration as Psychologist with AHPRA and endorsement, or working towards endorsement, in the area of Clinical or Counselling Psychology. Specialist training/ qualification and/or demonstrated clinical experience in family counselling and/or family therapy. Extensive knowledge and specialist clinical skills in delivering evidence-based assessment and family interventions to children and young people. This includes a strong understanding of family dynamics, child protection, family violence, care network interventions and working with families with moderate to severe mental health issues. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with minimal direct clinical supervision and to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team; and the ability to manage a demanding caseload with competing priorities. Demonstrated skills, experience and/or training as a clinical supervisor in family therapy or systemic interventions. Ability to supervise undergraduate and post graduate students. Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering education in therapeutic approaches to clients, staff, and external stakeholders. Knowledge of legislation and policies relating to Mental Health Services, including the Mental Health Act 2007. Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with key stakeholders to optimise outcomes for clients and their families. Experience in contributing to service design and quality improvement projects. Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
