Scottish Graduate Entry Medicine (ScotGEM) is an innovative 4-year graduate entry
medical programme, designed to train doctors as generalists and in rural practice. Our
first cohort graduated in 2022.
ScotGEM offers case-based learning in the early years supported by the new
Generalist Clinical Mentor (GCM) role designed to form the backbone of clinical
training and offer a positive generalist role model. In year 3 ScotGEM employs a
General Practice (GP) based Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship (LIC) where they
undertake a significant Healthcare Improvement project and significant event
analysis. In Year 4 students undertake a Healthcare Improvement Block and undertake an
Adverse Event Review. These specific activities form part of the 'Agents of Change'
curriculum which seeks to equip future healthcare leaders with additionalskillsin
healthcare improvement, prescribing and therapeutics, public health, service
learning and informatics.
You will join an experienced, enthusiastic team and contribute to the delivery and
future development the Healthcare Improvement components of the Agents of Change
course. This will involve working effectively with an extensive range of colleagues from
the universities of Dundee and St Andrews, with both enjoying international
reputations for excellence, as well as those in our partner health boards of NHS Fife,
Tayside, Dumfries and Galloway and Highland.
Who we're looking for:
* An experienced clinical medical educator with significant experience in
healthcare improvement to be based at the University of Dundee and able
to travel across Scotland.
* An enthusiastic advocate for the ScotGEM rural generalist mission.
* A highly effective, collaborative worker with excellent communication skills
* Ongoing clinical commitment (contracted separately,support available to
arrange if required).
