* Recover, maintain, and freeze down primary, mammalian and specialised cell lines (suspension and adherent) to be used in biological assay work.
* Adherence to good aseptic technique when operating in a cell culture environment.
* Supply cells for ad-hoc and routine requests within established timelines.
* Involvement in transient transfections and luminescence assays, including protocol preparation and maintenance of electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN).
* Maintenance and preparation of consumables, reagents and media.
* Be an active member of the scientific teams - contribute at team meetings and look for opportunities for innovation.
* Assist with the preparation of SOPs, Risk Assessments and best practice guides. Health and Safety procedures

* Sit or stand 4-5 hours in laboratory areas.
* Work around moving laboratory equipment and machinery.
* Work with biohazards such as blood borne pathogens.
* All work is carried out in a containment level 2 environment.
* Appropriate PPE must always be worn (Lab coat, gloves, eye protection).
* Reach above/below the shoulder, bend at the knees and waist.
* Office work activities, including keyboard, up to 2-3 hours.
BSc in relevant scientific subject (e.g. Biology, Biotechnology, or Biomedical Sciences) with relevant laboratory experience.
* Demonstrable knowledge of cell culture, cell lines, primary cells, and aseptic technique.
* Demonstrable experience of working in a laboratory environment.
* Understanding of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
* Highly motivated, with the ability to work both independently and in a group setting.
* Ability to work independently to organise work schedule to meet timelines successfully and deliver high quality and consistent results.
* Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain good working relationships and clear communication with the teams we support.
