Paediatric Endocrine Nurse Specialist

Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced children and young people’s nurse with an interest in paediatric endocrinology, to apply for the post of band 7 Paediatric Endocrine Specialist Practitioner and join an established multi-disciplinary team in caring for children and young people with specialist endocrine needs, based at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. The team is recognised both nationally and internationally in caring for children and young people with conditions including:
* Short stature problems: Growth hormone deficiency, Turner Syndrome, Prader Willi Syndrome, Small for gestational age.
* Adrenal conditions: Congenital adrenal hyperplasia, Addison’s disease, Adrenal insufficiency due to long-term steroids in Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Exogenous adrenal insufficiency due to high dose steroids.
* Thyroid problems: hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism.
* Disorder of Sexual Development conditions.
* Delayed and precocious puberty problems.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to provide clinical expertise and knowledge, be able to work with a certain level of autonomy, making decisions to treat health needs.
To work as an autonomous clinical nurse specialist to co-ordinate and deliver expert nursing care effectively to a defined caseload of children and young people with endocrine conditions and their families across both the acute and community settings.
To lead in the development of evidence-based clinical nursing practice in line with current research and guidelines.
To maintain clear lines of communication with primary healthcare teams in order to increase knowledge and facilitate the care of this group of children, young people and families in the community.
To act as a key resource and source of specialist support to colleagues across primary/secondary/tertiary care settings.
Demonstrate professional leadership.
Undertaking Nurse-led clinics.
Have a Non-Medical Prescribing qualification (NMP) or working towards it.

* Experience of interdisciplinary & multi-agency working
* Evidence of presentations at local, regional, national level.
