The Graduate Trainee Underwriter role has been created to invite University Graduates the opportunity to gain the necessary skills and experience to become an Underwriter within the ENRA Group.
This is an entry-level role in the Short Term Lending Team. The role involves learning the wide range of knowledge and skills required to make informed credit decisions on lending Bridging & Development Finance loans secured by residential and commercial property. Learning will be through a combination of a formal taught course delivered in-house together with on-the-job training in the fundamentals of credit underwriting. The expectation is that the role is a gateway into a career in property finance.
* Learning the basics of secured property lending including product structures, approaches to credit risk assessment and appraising property securities
* Learning how to make up case files including online searches such as Land Registry, Credit Searches, Company searches, Rightmove searches
* Understanding how to interpret the above searches and underwrite individual cases
* Learning how to assess valuation reports as well as monitoring surveyor reports for live construction projects
* Preparation of legal documentation associated with lending
* Entering and maintaining appropriate data within the loan operating systems
* Assisting established underwriters, case managers & portfolio managers in preparing credit papers
* Liaising with external parties, i.e. valuers, solicitors & monitoring surveyors to progress cases towards completion
* Assisting with continuous improvement and change projects through conducting ad-hoc analysis, process engineering, testing, and business readiness implementation
