The Public Transport Team is looking for a Senior Public Transport Operations Officer to support the Principal Officer in various aspects of the team’s work. You will primarily be involved with planning, designing, and supporting new infrastructure projects across the city to upgrade and enhance our public transport network. We have a continuing programme of maintaining and investing in the city’s transport network and you will be at the heart of this work. You will need to work with internal and external partners, contractors, and our transport providers to ensure that new projects are delivered in the most efficient way, improving the experience for the travelling public.
The Public Transport Team has recently undergone a small restructure with a new management team in place. This will be an opportunity to join a refreshed, updated team, and contribute your ideas to service improvement and new ways of working for the benefit of Bristol citizens. Previous experience of working in an operational role is essential, as well as knowledge and understanding of public transport operations. Key behaviours associated with this role are the ability to think quickly, remaining calm under pressure, and problem solving.
Bristol City Council has ambitious plans to deliver improved sustainable transport options, both in our city and within the wider region.
These plans include:
* Strategic corridor interventions to improve public transport, walking and cycling along key corridors.
* Transforming our local communities through the development of ‘Liveable Neighbourhoods’.
* Developing Mass Transit options for the city region.
* Building on our success as Cycling City to further develop and implement a world class walking and cycling network in the city.
* Making school journeys safer and increasing walking and cycling by implementing School Streets.
* Behaviour change, engagement and training to promote sustainable transport modes.

* Managing contracts relating to public transport infrastructure such as bus shelters and metrobus ipoints.
* Working with West of England Combined Authority and our neighbours to ensure co-ordination on various public transport matters at a local and strategic level.
* Working collaboratively with bus operators, coach operators and the taxi trade.
* Working with organisers of special events, such as the Great Bristol Run and Balloon Fiesta, to ensure transport requirements are met.
* Delivering or supporting projects of varying scale and complexity.
