The Independent Scrutineer will hold a key role in supporting the statutory partners and providing assurance in judging the effectiveness of services to safeguard and promote the welfare of children across the area. They will support a culture and environment conducive to robust scrutiny and constructive challenge.
Appointment is initially for a -month term, with the option to extend for a further years.

Cheshire West and Chester Safeguarding Children Partnership has strong and effective leadership, and its members are ambitious in their drive to improve outcomes for children and young people. The independent scrutiny function is critical in supporting those aims; providing assurance and judging the effectiveness of the partnership arrangements to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people across the Cheshire West and Chester.
As Independent Scrutineer you will support and advise the four partners and the wider partnership; holding us to account to ensure that we are fulfilling the partnership objectives and statutory functions
You must be able to demonstrate your strategic experience to help us embed partnership working at all levels. You will need to form appropriate relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, ranging from practitioners in safeguarding to senior managers and elected councillors. The ability to ensure engagement and, where appropriate, a sense of urgency, are essential to this role. We would look to you to promote collaborative working and to co-ordinate partners to collectively solve problems.
You need to be experienced and knowledgeable in safeguarding and child protection work at a senior level and possess the ability to lead, influence and motivate others. You should be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the Working Together to Safeguard Children Guidance and what this means to local partnerships.
