12 months fixed term post
Applications are invited for a 1 year fixed term Senior Clinical Fellow in Renal based at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. Please note that extension after the initial year is a possibility.
Our Renal team vision is to deliver the highest standards of care for our patients.
Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT) is one of the largest Associate Teaching Hospitals, providing acute care for over 750,000 people from across 2 main sites. Consultant review of in-patients is provided daily including weekends.
The Trust has on-site nursery facilities. Queen's Hospital and King George Hospital are 4.5 miles apart with a free staff shuttle service. Both hospitals are within walking distance of mainline stations, where there is a reliable train service to London Liverpool Street station every 10 minutes (with a travelling time of 15-30 minutes).
Main Duties of the Job
The key duties and responsibilities of the post will be:
* Clinical responsibility for the proper functioning of the Renal Unit, including ward round, and out-patient clinics.
* Perform relevant practical procedures.
* Participate in under-graduate and post-graduate education programme, including supervision of the junior medical staff, and undergraduate medical students, and take an active part in local and regional educational programme.
* Develop standards, procedures and systems on the ward that are safe, high quality and efficient for patient care.
* Work within the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective team working with the Renal team in the provision of medical care to the patients on the unit.
* Develop clinical guidelines/community protocols and best practice for the management of a wide range of acute medical presentations/admissions.
* Ensure robust risk management and governance arrangements are in place on the ward.
* Participate in relevant audit and quality assurance processes, including reviews of manpower requirements.
* Liaise closely with the Emergency Department, Medical and Critical Care teams at Queen's Hospital and other in-patient teams to ensure collaborative working arrangements are in place, which maximise benefits to patient care.
* Assist in training and supervision of medical trainees in all procedures.
This post is part of the General Medical on call roster so the post holder would be expected to undertake long days, nights and weekends as well as the ward standard day shifts.

Qualifications
Essential Criteria
* Full Registration with the General Medical Council.
* MRCP part 1.
* Completed 2 years working above a House officer grade.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams.
* Minimum of 4 years experience, completing both foundation and core training.
* Previous experience working within Renal.
