Marine Project Engineer – USV Builds - Temporary Contract
Job Summary:
The Project Engineer will play a key role in supporting the Project Managers throughout the lifecycle of building and delivering of the company's Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV) fleet. Working in close collaboration with various internal departments and stakeholders, the Project Engineer will oversee project documentation, manage change processes, and maintain administration activities to ensure the successful delivery of USVs. The role requires coordination across the entire project team, particularly with the Blue Essence and Blue Eclipse Project Managers, to ensure alignment with corporate processes and to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery Support:
The Project Engineer will assist Project Managers in delivering the USV fleet through the following phases of the project:
* Build: Support in maintaining the project administration during the production phase, ensuring that all project documentation deliverables are met according to technical and quality standards.
* Testing & Commissioning: Support the testing and commissioning documentation management to ensure operational readiness.
* Client Delivery: Assist in the final delivery and handover of completed USVs to clients, ensuring that all project documentation requirements are fulfilled.
Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance:
* Maintain a proactive approach towards HSE, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.
* Monitor and enforce adherence to risk assessments, safe methods of work, and incident reporting protocols to foster a culture of safety throughout the project lifecycle.
Documentation and Reporting:
* Supplier Documentation Schedule (SDS): Collaborate with document owners to ensure timely delivery of required documentation for project handover.
* Project Reporting: Collect and compile data for regular and ad hoc Project reports.
* Project Register Management: Assist in the maintenance of project registers for each USV build, ensuring that actions, issues, risks, escalations, decisions and quality management documents are recorded.
* Work Instructions: Provide support in compilation of Production Work Instructions when required.
* Commissioning phase documentation: Provide support in preparation of internal administrative documents as part of preparation for Commissioning phase.
Management of Change (MOC):
* Manage the resolution of outstanding actions related to existing MOCs, coordinating with relevant departments within the company and external stakeholders.
* Raise new MOCs as required for technical queries (TQs), unexpected changes, or evolving project needs, ensuring appropriate administrative actions are taken (risk assessments, data collection, meetings, follow-ups).
General Administrative Support:
* Provide day-to-day administrative assistance to ensure smooth project operations, helping to manage project-related activities, and ensuring all team members are aligned with project objectives.
Qualifications and Skills
* Education: University Degree in a related field or relevant technical industry experience
* Experience: Previous experience in project coordination, engineering, or shipbuilding is highly preferred, with a strong understanding of project delivery processes.
* Technical Skills: Familiarity with project management tools and techniques, including reporting, documentation management, and change control processes.
* Software Proficiency: Competent in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with experience in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, etc.) being a plus.
* Organisational Skills: Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail, able to manage multiple tasks concurrently and prioritize effectively.
* Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
