Central Employment are seeking an experienced Payroll Supervisor to join our team at our head office in Newcastle city centre.

As a key member of our finance department, you will ensure the timely and accurate processing of payroll while leading a team of payroll professionals.
Role Description
1. Supervise and lead the payroll team, ensuring accurate and timely processing of a weekly payroll of up to 1000 temporary employees.
2. Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including data entry, calculations, and reconciliations.
3. Ensure compliance with all relevant payroll legislation and regulations.
4. Handle escalated payroll queries and provide expert advice to management and both temporary & internal employees.
5. Review and improve payroll processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
6. Prepare and submit payroll reports to management and external bodies as required.
7. Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure data integrity.
8. Collaborate with HR and finance departments to ensure seamless payroll operations.
9. Daily management of the payroll team, including training, development, carrying out appraisals and one to ones.
Qualifications & Experience
1. Ideally you will have at least 2 years experience in any within a similar role. Experience managing payroll within a Recruitment Agency environment would be advantageous but not essential.
2. CIPP (Certified Institute of Payroll Professional) qualification preferred but not essential.
3. In-depth knowledge of payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
4. Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and benefits administration.
5. Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
7. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
8. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage a team in a fast-paced environment.
9. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
