Retail Store Manager
Location: Chelmsford, Essex, CM2 0LS
Salary: £32K to £42K, DOE
Contract: Full Time, Permanent

We are looking for a Retail Store Manager to join us in Essex!
You will manage the operation of the store efficiently and effectively with the objective of maximising store profitability in accordance with the Co-operatives policies and rules.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintain appropriate levels of stock availability to customers
2. Implement effective stock and order procedures to maximise sales within agreed stockholding targets
3. Maintain stock ranges and ensure merchandise is well presented
4. Keep levels of stock losses to a minimum via effective in-store stock control
5. Record and report all known losses such as wastage, freezer breakdowns, burglary, and theft
6. Undertake regular stock takes, monitoring stock levels and losses
7. Maintain the security of the store and its contents in accordance with the Food Store Policy & Procedures Manual
8. Ensure effective cash, banking, and till controls
9. Maintain a high level of cleanliness and presentation in the store
10. Identify and communicate any remedial and maintenance work required
11. Participate in the recruitment and selection of store supervisors and assistants
12. Undertake effective induction processes for all new staff
13. Ensure all staff are trained in store procedures
14. Identify any off-site training and development needs
15. Ensure adherence to Co-operative policies and procedures
16. Manage staffing levels during hours of occupancy
17. Record and communicate staff holiday, hours of work, and sickness to payroll
18. Promote effective customer service
19. Ensure compliance with all legal requirements including Health & Safety Practices, Fire Precautions, Food Hygiene Controls, and licensing laws
20. Operate within agreed budgetary constraints and profitability levels
21. Abide by and carry out the Co-operatives Health & Safety and Employment Policies
22. Carry out other duties as required by the business
What we need from you:
We are looking for an experienced Manager with previous experience in Convenience Retail.
Essential:
1. Driving Licence
2. Retail Management Experience
Desirable:
1. Personal Alcohol Licence
2. Stock Control experience
3. Food Waste Control experience
