At AQA, we’re committed to advancing education and we’re committed to our people. As the largest provider of academic qualifications in the UK, we mark over 10 million exam papers each year and it’s our people who make this happen.
Do you believe in giving all students a chance? Want to be part of a process and a team that finds solutions to students in need?
If so, we have a role within the assessment process known as Alternative Evidence; which finds other ways for students to obtain an exam grade if they are unable to sit a traditional examination. This includes centre applications, marking, grading, issue of results, and post-results services, crossing over several teams in Operations. The process requires significant manual input, i.e., evaluating evidence and discussing options about sensitive, personal individual circumstances.
We are looking for a Temporary Lead Administrator, who will manage and be supported by a Temporary Administrator, to ensure that a defined inter-departmental process is followed and will liaise with other departments regarding hand-offs. The Lead will also co-ordinate with other Awarding Bodies to ensure consistency of process and decision-making.
This position will be expected to help manage and develop the end-to-end process (E2E), with the support of the Special Requirements Co-ordinator and other department Leads to ensure that the process meets regulatory requirements.
Duties will include:
* Make informed decisions on the eligibility of centre applications by evaluating and actioning initial centre applications and evidence in accordance with agreed criteria.
* Oversee contact with centres and communicate directly regarding application status.
* Understand the E2E process and engage with all departments involved to identify any potential bottlenecks and escalate any issues.
* Engage with other awarding bodies to ensure consistency of process.
* Maintain records of all applications to provide a clear audit trail of application status at all times from E2E.
* Regular reporting and escalation in accordance with agreed process.
* Manage, develop, and guide 1 x administrator, ensuring they have the information and skills to perform their tasks effectively.
* Ensure that the outcome of an application is recorded in Nexus, i.e., input of final grade.
To excel in this role you will:
* Have previous administrative/coordinator experience.
* Possess a good eye for detail and strong communication skills.
* Have previous experience of managing/leading others.
* Exhibit a ‘step up’ mindset; use reasoned judgement and take accountability for actions.
* Have the ability to appropriately handle difficult/sensitive conversations and deliver unwelcome news.
