Trainee CAD Technician- £25,000 - £27,500 based in Woking, Surrey
This is a great opportunity for someone with CAD experience or a graduate with an HNC or degree in Architecture or Building studies to assist with the technical design of assigned projects
Duties/attributes:
o Proficient in CAD principles and draw confidently. o Proficient in Autocad. o Good construction knowledge (Building Regulations, NHBC, British Standards, Codes of Practice and similar statutory legislation) for the production of working drawings. o Seek to understand the client design brief and associated scope of works. o Thorough knowledge of and compliance with the company procedures and standards. o Create basic building plans and elevations (optimisation drawings). o Edit plans and elevations. o Prepare, develop and edit under guidance of the Principle/Senior drawings such as cycle store, garages, car ports, bathroom plans and elevations and other documents relating to the project. o Complete door and window schedules. o Create sales layout drawings from general arrangements. o Create electrical layouts. o Create fire strategy drawings from general arrangements. o Develop where required representations of design options for further discussion with the Principle/Senior. o Understand and complete title sheets and revisions. o Understand drawing registers. o Create PDF’s from CAD drawings. o Upload files to document hosting web site(s). o Check your own work against the company checklist. o Assist with design and construction queries from clients. o Coordinate with other consultants e.g. structural and civil engineer, energy assessor etc. o Contribute to the design team and wider company as a whole. o Production of accurate information, drawings and details as necessary for the various stages of the project from scheme design to construction drawings under guidance. o Accurately interpret the requirements for each project with the Principle/Senior, to ensure that the company provides and meets the client’s expectations. o Liaison with other professionals i.e. structural, civil and services engineers as applicable. o Undertake technical research i.e. products, Building Regulations and building materials. o Assist in the administration tasks associated with the production of the project. o Take an active role in Continuing Professional Development to enhance and contribute to construction skills whilst preparing production information. o Work to the project programme and timescales allocated. o Assist, support and liaise with other team members and seek assistance when required. o Work towards their professional membership of CIAT
