Job Purpose:
To manage all costs relating to facade projects from initial calculations to final figures. The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for ensuring cost control, value engineering, and financial management to ensure projects are delivered within budget and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Contract:
* Prepare cost plans, budgets, and estimates for facade projects.
* Conduct feasibility studies and value engineering to optimize project costs.
* Develop tender documentation and manage the tendering process, including evaluating tenders and making recommendations for contract awards.
* Negotiate and finalize contracts and sub-contracts with suppliers and contractors.
Post-Contract:
* Conduct regular cost reviews and produce detailed cost reports for senior management.
* Manage variations, change orders, and claims to ensure accurate and timely resolution.
* Monitor project budgets and provide accurate forecasts to ensure financial targets are met.
* Prepare and agree on interim valuations and final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
* Ensure compliance with contractual and statutory requirements.
Project Management:
* Collaborate with project managers, architects, and designers to ensure cost-effective solutions are implemented without compromising quality.
* Provide financial advice and support to project teams.
* Attend project and site meetings to monitor progress and address any cost-related issues.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met and exceeded.
* Provide regular updates and reports to clients, addressing any concerns promptly and professionally.
Continuous Improvement:
* Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and new technologies in facade construction and materials.
* Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements in the quantity surveying function.
* Maintain and update the cost database and libraries for facade projects.
Requirements:
Education:
* Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
* Professional membership with RICS, CIOB, or equivalent.
Experience:
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in quantity surveying, with significant experience in facade projects.
* Proven track record of managing project costs and delivering within budget on high-value facade projects.
* Experience in preparing and managing tender documents, contracts, and subcontracts specific to facade works
