About the Role
Bekaert is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Sales to lead the commercial efforts across Europe for the Energy and Crane markets. You will be responsible for driving sustainable, profitable growth by managing key accounts, building distribution networks, and executing strategic growth initiatives. This role will involve leading a talented sales team, developing new geographic markets, and utilizing digital tools to enhance efficiency. Ideally, you will be based in the UK close to Newcastle Upon Tyne or Doncaster. We will also consider all locations in Northern Europe for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Strategy Development: Formulate and implement a structured sales plan that capitalizes on current opportunities and secures new business across Europe.
2. Leadership & People Management: Inspire and lead the commercial team, ensuring alignment with Bekaert’s policies in recruitment, performance management, compensation planning, and team development.
3. Business Forecasting: Set and review annual sales and profit forecasts, analyzing market trends, and creating strategies for accurate forecasting with 90-95% accuracy.
4. Business Development: Penetrate new geographies and markets by implementing field sales action plans, distributor agreements, and trade promotions.
5. Key Account Management: Build strong, long-term relationships with key customers and decision-makers through regular engagement and tailored solutions.
6. Market Intelligence: Stay ahead of industry trends by identifying new business opportunities and understanding evolving customer needs.
7. Digital Tools: Leverage digital tools to improve sales efficiency, transparency, and performance.
Key Skills & Experience
8. Leadership: Proven track record in leading and motivating sales teams, with strong relationship-building skills.
9. Sales Expertise: Extensive experience in sales leadership, preferably with a background in technical selling and business-to-business solutions.
10. Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive sales strategies that drive growth and profitability.
11. Cultural Competence: Understanding of operating across diverse cultures in a global environment.
12. Problem-Solving: Pragmatic, process-oriented, and able to resolve complex challenges.
Qualifications
13. Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
14. Strong financial planning and strategy skills.
15. Ability to manage time and territories effectively, setting and achieving sales targets.
16. A second European language is an advantage but not essential.
