Job Description
Assistant Accountant:
1. Oversee and support finance team operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management.
2. Work with the Chief Financial Officer to prepare budgets, cash flow forecasts, and KPIs for the organization and its associated trusts.
3. Streamline processes to transition from quarterly to monthly management accounts, providing variance reports to budget managers.
4. Monitor and reconcile restricted funds, grants, and project-related accounting records.
5. Prepare quarterly VAT returns, annual partial exemption calculations, and support payroll processing as needed.
6. Assist in producing draft statutory accounts and facilitating the annual audit process.
7. Develop financial management reports, dashboards, and reconciled schedules for internal stakeholders.
8. Maintain relationships with external advisers, including banks, auditors, and tax professionals.
The Successful Applicant
The ideal candidate will have an accountancy qualification (or be working towards one) and at least two years of experience in a finance environment. You'll have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience managing budgets, financial accounts, and cash flow forecasting. Proficiency with accounting software, Microsoft Office, and knowledge of VAT and payroll principles are essential. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with a proactive approach to process improvement, are highly valued. Statutory Accounts prep is essential.
