Job Description
Supporting the lead of Risk and Controls Assurance Manager by delivering independent control testing programme and maintaining control inventory.
Making good use of a broad range of information including operational risk data to understand risk profile of each area and ensure adequacy and quality of control inventory representation.
Facilitating workshops with control owners and obtaining necessary information proportionate to each control.
Clearly documenting the control testing, agreeing with control owners, and reflecting on systems accordingly.
Following up on findings and identified gaps with control owners, e.g., recording remediating actions, designing new controls.
Contributing to improve the assurance & testing programme, e.g., control attributes, methodology, reporting, planning, system.
Maintaining records, e.g., system data, documents, reports, plans.
Providing information, QA review, and analysis upon request.
Actively sharing information and providing constructive challenges and inputs for both the A&T team and the ERM department.
The Successful Applicant
The Risk and Controls Assurance Manager will need the following experience:
Degree level (or equivalent) - mandatory.
3-5 years experience across Risk management including Controls testing and Assurance.
Degree level with technical background such as accounting or past experience in Audit/Big 4 - useful.
Experience in undertaking independent control testing or/and assessing controls across departments in capital markets (good knowledge of financial products, accounting and IT).
Strong investigative and analytical skills (e.g., enquiry, scanning, analysis, interviewing, testing), preferably with strong data analysis skills. Awareness of regulatory expectations in relation to control testing & assurance programmes (including UK SOX regime).
Strong written, presentation & communication skills. Being able to clearly articulate key messages in a concise form and provide effective flow charts and presentations. Attention to detail.
