Are you interested in working as a school counsellor? Are you a motivated and reflective counselling practitioner, with a passion for improving children and young people’s mental health? Are you able to work effectively in a team?
Applications are invited for the post of School Counsellor. Successful candidates will work within the school counselling team offering counselling to young people aged between 10-18 years old.

You must have a current driving license and be able to provide a car, for which appropriate travel expenses will be paid. While we invite applicants from all areas of Aberdeenshire, we are especially interested in hearing from candidates able to work at schools in the North of Aberdeenshire.
To deliver a school-based counselling service to children and young people aged 10
years and above in accordance with current legislation, and Council policies and
procedures.
There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.
Fixed term for a period not exceeding 28/02/2027, 47 week per year contract.

Requirements
This post has a minimum requirement of two references, one of which must be your current or most recent employer.
This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
It is Aberdeenshire Council’s procedure that applicants for vacancies of this nature require to attend an assessment centre as well as interview.
