Job Summary
Operations Assistant
Hereford Foodbank are seeking an adaptable individual with a positive and forward-thinking “can do” attitude to join us as our new Operations Assistant. You will be the first point of contact for anybody contacting our service and therefore you will possess an empathetic and compassionate attitude.
You will be a confident ICT user, have good Excel skills, and be familiar with case management systems. You will be supporting the day-to-day running of the Hereford Foodbank; therefore, the ability to multitask and work to timescales is crucial.
Responsibilities:
* Review email, online platforms, or phone referral requests for emergency food parcels from agencies and potential recipients.
* Record details on our systems.
* Liaise with our Volunteer Team Leaders and Drivers to arrange distribution and delivery of parcels.
* Direct contact with recipients to identify the nature of the crisis and signpost, where appropriate, for further support.
* Liaise with the Volunteer Donations Team Leader and supermarkets to coordinate food donations.
* Assist the Deputy Manager with scheduling volunteers to ensure we are correctly staffed.
* Work with the Manager and Lead Health and Safety Volunteer to ensure the foodbank is a safe, clean, and healthy environment.
This role is full-time and is a hybrid working role. The offices are based in the city centre. You will have a passion for the work we do and be able to demonstrate that you have exceptional organisation skills and are able to communicate effectively to all levels. We need you to be a great communicator and have a non-judgemental and positive attitude towards those we serve.

Essential:
* Good organisational skills.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and unsupervised.
* Attention to detail in record keeping.
* Passionate about tackling poverty.
* A non-judgemental and positive attitude towards people who are in need.
* Confident user of IT systems and electronic media platforms.
* Minimum of Level 2 English and Maths.
Desirable:
* Health and safety experience.
* Working with volunteers.
* Experience of working in a charity.

Pay: £24,500.00 per year
