Software Engineer

My client is looking for a candidate to join the engineering team to lead technical responsibility for our customer and staff portal and the APIs that drive it. They will work on projects using JavaScript and TypeScript in the Angular framework for frontend, with a plan to migrate to Vue.js, and a mostly PHP & Laravel/Lumen backend. These systems are used to provide management systems for staff and customers of market research projects.
The team will develop, improve, and maintain the systems that provide management tools for market research projects, with the support of the Platform & Services Team Lead and other colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Understanding requirements and acceptance criteria
2. Interpreting software development specifications and design documents
3. Writing application code and tests that conform to standards
4. Leading software development projects
5. Leading the design process on recommended architecture
6. Ensuring that the Portal team's work is of high quality and adheres to our company standards
7. Coordinating with the Team lead to schedule in maintenance and other internal improvements
8. Identifying risks and developing contingency plans
9. Working alongside engineering, testing, user experience and other roles
10. Adhering to company policies and procedures with respect to security, quality, and health and safety
Here's what we're looking for:
1. Strong knowledge of programming languages and underlying development concepts to enable them to contribute to work across teams
2. Ability to define technical specifications based on customer requirements
3. Ability to clearly explain complex technical issues
4. System architecture and design
5. Strong understanding of information security, ISO 27001, and other processes and policies
6. Knowledge of coding standards
7. Experience with AWS & Serverless technologies
8. Strong PHP knowledge utilising the Laravel or Lumen frameworks
9. Strong JavaScript or TypeScript knowledge utilising the Angular framework
10. HTML and CSS
Preferred:
1. Experience developing privacy centric applications
2. Experience with optimising SQL queries when working with complex and large data sets
