1 x 37.5 hour post, 12.00 - 20.00pm, Monday to Friday
This post is based at Pilgrim Hospital and flexibility is required to cover absent colleagues.
To ensure continuity of the Health Records Service, there is a requirement to cover at least 1 Bank Holiday shift per year.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit Health Records clerks to join our administrative teams. Working within our busy environment, you will carry out Health Records duties as part of the Choice & Access team, assisting in the daily provision of a professional health records service ensuring patients, relatives, and visitors receive the best possible service.
The role will involve the filing, locating, retrieval, and preparation of patient casenotes to ensure that national waiting times are adhered to. Advising patients, staff, and relatives by telephone and dealing with their enquiries is also a key part of this role.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good standard of education with at least 5 GCSEs (grade C or above) or equivalent, including English and Maths, or an NVQ2 or equivalent in a relative subject, i.e., Customer Care Skills
* Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
* CLAIT or European Computer Driving Licence
* Basic knowledge of Medical Terminology
Previous Experience
* Experience of working with the general public in a customer-facing capacity
* Experience of working in an office environment
* Knowledge or experience of NHS working
* Excellent customer care skills
* Excellent time management skills, the ability to adhere to strict deadlines
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal
* Ability to plan and prioritise own workload and work on own initiative with variable and unpredictable demands
* Ability to jointly plan work with other members of the team
* Good organisation skills with the ability to work to a consistently high standard both individually and as part of a team
* Ability to deal effectively with difficult situations
* Ability to work unsupervised and take responsibility for own actions
* Knowledge and experience of using PAS and other patient/hospital related computerised systems
