The role of Site Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our work sites, ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role is pivotal in coordinating site activities, managing teams, and liaising with various stakeholders.
Specific Responsibilities/Tasks
Daily
1. All civil teams to be briefed on tasks to be undertaken within their designated area, work packs discussed, and any hazards outlined prior to mobilisation to site. If required, an on-site briefing is to be completed with their civil team completing the works prior to works start to ensure clear guidance is provided.
2. Organising & supervision of all backfill of excavations within their designated works area is completed.
3. All permits’ amendments or extensions to be advised to PM & Streetworks team.
4. Ensure teams are completing SSRA’s and they are accurate to the site conditions.
5. All requests for reinstatement are to be communicated with the reinstatement supervisor within their designated works area and clear instructions provided for the site requirements. If any issues are found that are affecting the delivery of their works, these are to be communicated to their line manager.
6. Works being undertaken under their control that are 1 full day or over are to be visited daily during the operational stage.
7. During any site visit, the site is to be inspected to ensure compliance with local authority works permit, company policy, and WPD ST CA6A-5 (or later revisions).
8. Acumen – ensure usage on site by teams under their control.
9. Ensure works target outlined by your line manager are met weekly.
10. Change control on works under their supervision to be discussed with De-Looping Project Manager.
11. Any change to the Work Instruction needs to be instructed via email or text message and issued to their line manager for review and submission to commercial.
12. Ensuring all teams under their control are collating the required info expected by NGED to allow invoices to be paid – photo of excavations with measuring stick used to record length, width, and depth, and Acumen is used by all teams under their supervision.
13. Assessment of all work packs issued by Project Manager for works to be completed under their supervision (Copy of all required in-date utility plans, permit conditions, Work instruction).
14. Weekly review of Acumen works planner to review upcoming works in their designated area.
15. Assessment of all upcoming works within their designated area to establish if Traffic management is required and booked to the works.
16. All future works being undertaken within their control are to be assessed within a minimum of 5 working days prior to works start and the assessments to be recorded. This assessment can be completed via desktop survey and if a risk is present that cannot be controlled via the company policies, a site visit is to be undertaken to assess the risks present. This assessment is to be documented on the pre-works assessment form.
17. SLG form to be completed on all works to be undertaken under their supervision; this SLG form will be put in each job pack for civils team to understand what SLG is required to complete the works safely and compliant to permit conditions. This will allow civils team to mobilise correctly as per your pre-site assessment and/or check what the support driver has delivered if the works are to be loaded out by the support driver.
18. Collation of all Vehicle & plant paperwork for teams operating under their supervision the previous week or assigned under their supervision.
19. Completion of 5-day walks on all works under their control that span 5 days or more in duration.
20. All jobs 5 days or over to be walked off on a Friday PM or Monday AM to assess works completed and for a track sheet to be completed by the supervisor for works completed to ensure invoicing of works is accurate.
21. Assessment of Plant Live Hire information assigned to the civil teams under their control.
22. Final walk off on all works over 100m under their control to assess if any defects are present. If defects are found, their line manager is to be notified and an NCR raised. All attempts will be made to complete within original permit period.
23. All large overlays to be measured weekly on a track sheet and submission of remeasure issue to line manager. Completion of this weekly will ensure accuracy at invoicing. Possibly the inclusion of the NGED nominated person to complete collectively.
Monthly
1. Review of all teams’ operation on their works competencies to ensure compliance with tasks being completed.
2. Undertaking of (excavation) civils team audit on teams allocated to their works. Company policy is that all operatives are to be audited once per month.
Adhoc
1. Completion of "assessment Checks" on all teams under their control (minimum of once per year).
2. Discovery, latent damage, or utility damage – Immediate attendance to site. Utility Damage Investigation Checklist to be collated and returned to SHEQ and their line manager by COP on day of utility damage or 9am the following morning.
3. Attend all Utility Damage de-brief under their supervision.
4. Hire and off-hire of all plant via the correct paperwork and channels to the Plant department.
5. Any specialist materials required on works being completed under their control are to be ordered in sufficient time via the procurement department for reinstatement to be completed within permit dates. If unsure, their line manager is to be consulted.
6. All new teams to their supervision are to receive a site visit on the 1st job being undertaken under their control to assess if they meet their expectations. Any concerns are to be communicated via their line manager.
7. Issuing of permit to civil teams undertaking operational tasks on works assigned to their supervision – Deep excavation, cable pulling, moiling, hot works, and HDD.
8. Attend any site visit requested by the client/customer.
9. Completion of As laid drawings on all works completed under their supervision.
10. Issuing of all As laid completed drawings to Streetworks team, accurately and in a timely manner.
11. Issuing of track sheets for works completed on all projects to allocated Project Manager.
12. Excellent communication skills with customers prior, during, and after works are completed.
13. Ensure all customer complaints are dealt with effectively, regarding all works under their supervision.
14. Attend mandatory training courses as defined within the company training matrix.
15. Keep up to date with legislation and record ‘Continued Professional Development’ (CPD).
Qualifications & Training
1. A comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office software, especially Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
