Key Responsibilities: Electronics: Involved in circuit design, component selection, and PCB technology. Work within areas like EMC, power management, servo control, processor interfacing, and communications. Electrical: Design power and signal systems, including overall system architecture, power flow management, and wiring, with a strong understanding of production processes. Set and uphold high standards of engineering practice, acting as a subject matter expert or aspiring expert within your field. Drive innovation by suggesting and implementing improvements to processes and practices within the department. Communicate effectively with senior engineers, technical leads, and occasionally brief senior management or customers. Play an active role in advancing technology by developing expertise in specific areas and applying this knowledge to R&D projects. Take technical leadership for specific elements of multi-disciplinary projects, such as overseeing key sub-assemblies, and deliver systematic solutions for customers. Mentor and support less experienced engineers, offering guidance in development, training, and overall support. Skills & Experience Essential: A strong degree (or HND with proven experience) in a relevant discipline accredited by the IET, with typically 18 months to 6 years of experience in the field. Proven ability and enthusiasm to collaborate within multi-disciplinary project teams, tackling challenging objectives and complex problems. Solid grounding in both the theoretical and practical aspects of electrical and electronic design. Capable of conducting analysis-based tasks, such as defining power budgets and specifications, and translating findings into clear technical reports. Experience in producing Electrical/Electronic designs, with familiarity in technical drawings and working alongside production teams to ensure accurate design implementation. Enthusiasm for seeing projects through the entire lifecycle, from initial concept to customer delivery. A passion for innovation, constantly seeking new approaches and challenging existing methods to find the best solutions. Desirable: Membership in the IET and a desire to pursue Chartership (C-Eng). Hands-on experience with a variety of laboratory tools such as multi-meters, spectrum analysers, PSUs, and a solid understanding of their capabilities and limitations. Familiarity with embedded software design, including languages like C, C++, and C#. Experience with EMC, particularly in managing emissions and handling disturbances such as EMI or lightning effects. Knowledge of motors and drive technology, with the ability to analyse and calculate motion performance. Awareness of control systems analysis, topology, and simulation techniques, with experience using tools like Python, Matlab, Simulink, LT-Spice, and Simetrics. Experience with project management tools like JIRA, Confluence, and MS Project.
