About the business unit
Mott MacDonald’s Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers both project, programme & commercial management (PPCM) services and advisory solutions across various sectors.
APD delivers services to projects ranging in scale and complexity up to £20bn, through the technical disciplines of programme management, project management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, estimating, infrastructure finance, management consulting, digital consulting and education, health and care management.
Overview of role
Our Climate Change team is seeking an experienced senior carbon analyst to join our talented advisory team in the UK. The successful candidate will have solid experience within a similar role and will be actively involved in the delivery of decarbonisation consultancy services for a wide range of projects globally.
Your duties and accountabilities will typically include:
Project delivery
* Manage and take responsibility for the delivery of carbon footprinting, lifecycle assessment, and carbon management projects.
* Successful delivery of projects to quality, time, and budget requirements;
* Assess the performance of projects against national and international standards as well as industry best practices.
* Inform the development of project design with regards to operational and embodied carbon.
* Providing strategic advice to clients to align their policies and processes to achieve net zero ambitions.
* Develop data analysis as part of carbon assessment, ensuring traceability and robust calculations.
* Report writing and presenting final results to our clients.
* Stakeholder engagement - at all levels within the company, across our client base and the wider industry;
* Professional excellence - be actively involved in the climate change community in Mott MacDonald with a focus on decarbonisation;
* People and capability – mentoring more junior staff to help build their own carbon skills and capabilities.
* Preparation of bid submissions and developing opportunities, working in collaboration with Account Leaders and carbon specialists.
The successful candidate will be proactive, passionate, and eager to play a part in a growing team. We welcome applications from consultants with the following experience:
Essential
* Experience in the delivery of carbon footprinting / lifecycle assessment (LCA) / carbon management projects.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Collaborative behaviours to maximise stakeholder engagement.
* Good knowledge of legislation and policy influencing carbon and climate change.
* Good knowledge of initiatives in the industry to reduce carbon impact.
* Capacity for flexible delivery.
* Experience of net zero and working within EIA teams.
* Degree/post-graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline.
* Excellent communication skills, including report writing and client presentations.
* Excellent time management skills.
* Self-motivated and enthusiastic.
* Chartership from a relevant professional institution.
Desirable
* Experience of mentoring / managing junior staff.
* Understanding of related environmental topics.
* Knowledge of low-carbon materials/processes in construction.
* Knowledge of the circular economy.
* Experience in the use of LCA tools.
