An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, experienced nurse / health visitor / school nurse to join our Specialist Nursing Team to be an integral part of a team providing care for children/young people with a neuro-disability. You will be a core member of the community paediatric multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to promote the health and wellbeing of children and young people and be an expert resource for children, young people and parents/carers with a neuro-disability providing specialist nursing input to a defined caseload of children.
This role is independent to the Children's Community Nursing Team, however some of the children may be on both caseloads.
Main duties of the job
The Specialist Nursing roles require individuals to develop expertise in the speciality, be able to teach and support staff in the clinical areas, undertake research and audit as required and consider how to gain patient feedback to review and improve services. You should be an effective communicator, motivated and self-directed and willing to continue to develop professionally.
You will be working alongside Community Paediatricians, supporting them in clinics, undertaking home visits / nursing/school visits etc and co-ordinating their care through setting up MDT/TAC meetings.

Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children is based at the St Helier site. Children are seen in the dedicated Paediatric A&E which sits alongside the adult ED; Outpatient clinics, Ward and assessment unit. The post holder will work with the Paediatric team consisting of Consultant/s with Special interest and the post holder with secretarial support by one of the Patient Pathway Co-ordinators (PPC).

Qualifications and training
Essential criteria
1. •Registered Nurse – Child or •RN Learning Disabilities with relevant experience of working with children and young people with complex health needs and physical disabilities. Or •Registered Nurse – Other with a Specialist Community Public Health Nursing qualification •Degree in relevant health subject
Desirable criteria
2. •Specialist Community Public Health Nurse – Health Visiting, School Nursing, Community Children’s Nursing •Mentorship Course •Qualification / module or significant relevant experience within a specialist area •Masters qualification – working towards or equivalent experience
Knowledge
Essential criteria
3. •Of undertaking clinical audit and evaluation •in contributing towards service and policy development and review •Clear understanding of the current national and local agenda and current issues relating to delivery of community neurodevelopment care •of change management and service development •Care Quality Commission and able to demonstrate an understanding of quality and risk
