We are looking to appoint a part time Fostering Support Worker to join our Isle of Wight team, which is part of the South and Southeast Service based in Salisbury. This is an exciting and important role involving a range of tasks working directly with children and young people, foster carers and other professionals. You will be working with an experienced team of social workers predominantly on the Isle of Wight with occasional visits to the Registered Office in Salisbury for team meetings and training. You will be actively involved in participation events with our children and young people, as well as organising and attending group work and activities. There will be a requirement to also support foster carers to ensure children and young people are achieving positive outcomes, and their health and wellbeing are promoted. This role requires you to be involved in the recruitment of foster carers on the Isle of Wight with the expectation to organise and attend local events. Five Rivers works from a Trauma-informed (ATIC) Model, integrating our Fostering, Residential, Clinical, and Education Services to achieve the best possible outcomes for young people. The team is supported by a Psychologist and a Therapeutic Practitioner, and the opportunity to interact and work alongside other Fostering Support Workers is provided with an expectation to attend a regular Reflective Practice space. As a Fostering Support Worker, you will need to have experience of working with children and young people with the ability to be flexible, proactive and able to communicate effectively. To accurately document interactions and actively contribute to the well-being of children is essential. You need to be able to drive for this role and have the right to work in the UK. Responsibilities include: • Promote the welfare of children/young people placed with the Five Rivers Fostering and within Five Rivers Child Care as a whole. • To be involved in placements' practice aspects and assist in the ongoing placement process. • To assist Five Rivers Child Care and agency staff in helping to prepare children/young people for foster care placements. • Work directly with children/young people in a skilled and focused way as part of an agreed work programme. • Coordinate groups and joint work for all children/young people involved in the foster care process. • Assist in the co-ordination and attend foster carer recruitment events We are looking for someone who will always think of the child, ensuring they are at the forefront of all decisions. Must be able to work as a team member to achieve the best outcomes for the children and be able to communicate with children and adults. Experience working in the fostering sector and with children/young people would be an advantage but not necessary. Desired skills and requirements: • Experience of working directly with children and young people • Commitment to engaging in therapeutic training • Full UK driving license. • Commitment to working flexible hours • Evening and occasional weekend work when required.
