BPA’s work revolves around the downstream oil & gas distribution sector (pipelines, storage depots, road & rail terminals, pump stations, etc.) and you’ll be executing and co-ordinating multi-discipline engineering projects associated with onshore fuel pipelines and associated facilities as part of a wider BPA project team.
As a Project Engineer, you will be working as part of the Engineering Team to deliver projects that are key to maintaining the safe operation of the pipeline and terminal assets under BPA’s management. You will take ownership of your work, delivering to an agreed programme and budget.
We are looking for a Project Engineer with a Mechanical discipline.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Planning and Project Management
* Provide project control from initial approval through to commissioning and handover.
* Ensure agreed staff-hours and cost targets are adhered to.
* Prepare project plans and programmes.
* Ensure work is conducted in compliance with BPA procedures to client satisfaction.
Design
* Identify and manage design risks.
* Provide engineering designs in accordance with relevant company, client, national and international standards.
* Develop design and construction drawings.
* Conduct design reviews with project stakeholders.
Procurement
* Prepare contract documentation for procuring services and materials.
* Evaluate tenders and recommend contract award.
* Authorise invoices and monitor project spend.
* Manage on site construction contracts.
* Liaise with onsite staff to ensure health and safety targets are achieved.
* Assist in the preparation of commissioning plans.
General
* Maintain good client relationships.
* Adapt to changing client priorities.
* Ensure good engineering practices are maintained.
* Assist in the development of scopes of work and budgets.
* Operate to expected quality standards.
What do we need from you? (Qualifications, Education, Experience, and Skills)
* An interest in the energy sector, with sustainability / energy savings in mind.
* Graduate Engineer with a BEng or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
* Understanding of specified engineering discipline, preferably in design, project engineering, and construction.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
* Ability to perform work within agreed budgets and schedules under supervision.
* Proficiency with desktop applications (e.g., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Organisational skills and attention to detail – define a problem, collect data, establish the facts of an argument, draw valid conclusions.
* Literate, with confident oral skills and the ability to present yourself and your arguments well.
* Flexibility, adaptability and a ‘can do’ approach – the work is a mix of desk and site based engineering (often on high hazard industrial sites), with inevitable changing / conflicting priorities!
* Valid UK driving licence.
