Maintenance Operative
Location: Felpham, Bognor Regis
Hours: Part-Time, 28 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM, 4 days a week)
Salary: £13.97 – £16.28 per hour (weekdays)
The Role
The organisation is a well-regarded residential care home located in Felpham, is seeking a reliable and experienced Maintenance Operative to join their team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring their facilities remain safe, functional, and welcoming for their residents and staff. Key Responsibilities
* Maintain the care home’s buildings, facilities, and grounds to a high standard.
* Perform general maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, decorating, and basic gardening.
* Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure the home remains in excellent condition.
* Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies to ensure minimal disruption.
* Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including COSHH, water management, PAT testing, and electrical safety.
* Carry out monthly checks of emergency lighting and weekly fire alarm tests, maintaining appropriate records.
* Undertake periodic checks on water temperature and legionella, recording results as required.
* Complete PAT safety inspections on appliances and equipment within the home.
* Liaise with external contractors for specialist repairs, quotations, and services.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
* Assist in the induction training of new staff regarding fire alarm systems and emergency plans.
* Manage stock levels of tools and supplies, ordering replacements when necessary.
* Provide a general courier/collection service when required.
* Ensure all work areas and storage spaces are kept neat, tidy, and secure.
* Maintain a log of repairs and equipment issues in line with CQC requirements.
