The Business Operations Director is an independent contributor who partners with the aligned functional leader(s) to mobilize people, time and resources for maximum impact. The Business Operations Director acts as a dynamic, intelligent glue - identifying, defining, organizing and accelerating the operational activities across Non-Interventional Studies (NIS) Planning & Delivery department with links into Global Clinical Operations that are critical to delivering the R&D & Chief Patient Officer (CPO) strategy. This role supports implementation of the function’s strategy to deliver Non-Interventional Studies (NIS) which are a critical component of the healthcare evidence ecosystem. NIS provides real-world data on the effectiveness, safety, and utilization of medical products and interventions, it supports informed decision-making for payers, patients, and prescribers. This type of research complements the findings from controlled clinical trials, offering a more comprehensive understanding of how GSK treatments perform and their utilization in clinical practice.
You’ll drive the function’s performance through the application of efficient and effective operational processes and also support acceleration activities and key projects. As the Business Operations Director you will be responsible for providing close support and thoughtful partnership to the function’s senior leader. Responsibilities include driving the implementation and monitoring of the department strategy and operational plans, organizing and enabling maximum effectiveness of the leadership team. In addition, the Operations Director will provide expertise in operational excellence, providing a standardized approach to applying GSK policy, process and enterprise support services across R&D and CPO to enable the aligned department to focus their efforts on high value activities. This role will provide you the opportunity to lead key activities to support the effective running of parts of the NIS Planning & Delivery business, working in close collaboration with other business operations support.
Key responsibilities:
These responsibilities include some of the following:
* Actively plan, facilitate and participate at Leadership Team meetings to ensure delivery of strategic and operational line needs.
* Actively support communications for the organization (i.e. workplace, Let’s Talk, etc.) Partner with leadership team to develop and facilitate the execution of the team’s objectives.
* Own and manage complex projects and activities
* Commitment to delivering high quality results, overcoming challenges, focusing on what matters, execution.
* Navigate people, perspectives and processes with sensitivity and emotional intelligence
* Anticipate problems and help resolve whatever can’t be forestalled
* Facilitate discussions and debates to reach decisions
* Provide leaders with an independent viewpoint and respectful challenge to drive effective business processes.
* Provide insights and thought partnership to guide business leaders
* Provide guidance and practical, pragmatic support on operational issues.
* Translate team thinking into a sound and effective strategy
* Drive business performance, leverage data and provide quarterly reports to key business partners on portfolio execution from a timeline delivery and resource perspective (internal & external costs)
* Bring excellent judgment and relevant experience to bear on a constantly changing set of challenges and opportunities – large and small.
* Regularly resolve ambiguous problems and challenges so that they can be effectively addressed
* Partner with Finance, Human Resources (HR) and Resource Manager to generate resource management analyses to enable LT members to appropriately resource our portfolio.
Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
* Bachelor’s Degree required with extensive Pharmaceutical experience
* Strong project leadership and management skills
* Extensive experience working with change management approaches on a range of projects / programs at multiple organizational levels including VP level and above
* Demonstrable experience creating/using data analytics to drive performance including financials
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
* Advanced Degree, preferably in sciences or Business Administration
* Highly motivated, agile & adept learning ability
* Ability to thoughtfully challenge status-quo
* International travel required; one week every 6 months approximately.
