Job Description
Finance Business Partners - Ref: RT07224
1. 4 permanent roles within Adult Social Care and Financial Planning Teams
2. £42,403 - £47,420 per annum (pay award pending)
At Walsall Council, we're transforming, and so are our Financial Services. We're changing the way the council works to provide an even better customer experience, increase staff satisfaction, and improve our service performance. It's all about achieving the very best for our colleagues, customers, and communities. Now, we're looking for Finance Business Partners to help us achieve our ambitions. It's an exciting chance to shape our future and your own career.
We are looking to recruit into Finance Business Partner roles to continue to support this transformation journey within the following services: Financial Planning and Adult Social Care. A can-do attitude, experience in supporting large, complex services, and an ability to appropriately articulate financial information to a range of stakeholders are all crucial to these roles.
The Financial Planning function helps to provide focus and support on the Council's medium-term financial planning and the financial complexities surrounding this. Financial Planning provides support to members and activities underpinned by the Section 151 Officer, coordinates the revenue and capital budgeting process, medium-term financial plan, and reporting to senior management and members.
Adult Social Care Finance Business Partners are our key finance links to the services we support. They provide solutions, insight, and advice to both support and constructively challenge services to help achieve their objectives, whilst underpinned by strong financial management.
The roles will be supporting our service managers and directors to become proactive and trusted financial advisers. Everything you do will help to improve the service and its outcomes.
We are looking for enthusiastic and pragmatic individuals, with a can-do attitude, experience of financial stewardship, data/analytical skills, and the ability to appropriately articulate financial information to a range of stakeholders, which are all key strengths needed to undertake the role.
As a Finance Business Partner, you should hold a CCAB/CIMA body and undertake active CPD, or actively study for a CCAB/CIMA qualification. While an understanding of local government finance would be an advantage, it is not essential.
If you are not currently fully qualified but actively studying, we provide opportunities to continue a funded CCAB qualification.
In addition, we provide an attractive employment package that includes a generous annual leave entitlement of up to 29 days (which rises to 34 days after 5 years continuous local government service), a flexible working scheme that allows up to a further 12 days leave per year, working from home opportunities with emphasis on an optimum work-life balance arrangement, and a career average pension scheme. We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements.
The closing date for applications is 17th November 2024 (Note: this vacancy may be closed earlier than the published closing date should we receive a large number of applications. Therefore, it is strongly advised that candidates submit applications at the earliest opportunity).
The interviews will be conducted face to face within the Civic Centre and are likely to be held week commencing 26th November 2024, applicants will need to have applied by the closing date to be considered.
Interviews will consist of a test and presentation followed by an interview.
For more information or an informal discussion please contact Natalia Hodgetts (Financial Planning) at Natalia.Hodgetts@walsall.gov.uk, or Suzanne Letts (Adult Social Care) at Suzanne.Letts@walsall.gov.uk.
This post is covered by the Government's Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The postholder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.
Important note: When completing your online application form, you will be asked to enter supporting information. You must enter a detailed supporting information statement describing how your skills, abilities, and experience meet the specific criteria included in the employee specification. If you do not include a supporting information statement, you will not be shortlisted. Please also ensure that you complete the work history and qualifications sections of your application form. Please do not add a CV as we do not accept them.
