This is a great opportunity for a US corporate tax specialist to join the in-house tax team of a fast-growth global commodities business. Since its founding 10 years ago, the company has grown rapidly and now operates in 80 countries and across a wide suite of commodities. They are also diversifying into renewable energy projects and have made some high profile US acquisitions. As a result of continued growth and expansion into the US market, they are looking to bring a US tax specialist into their existing tax team based in London. The role would suit a US tax generalist with ability to cover the main tax issues involved in an owner-managed business on both the business side and the investor side: federal and State corporate income tax, sales taxes, K-1 preparation, PFIC analysis etc. Given the role being the first of its kind, this would also require the person to bring with them enthusiasm to carve out good process and so demonstrating an inquisitive desire to learn about taxes specific to the industry, for example, ITCs in renewable power generation developments, CBAM, severance taxes, customs duties etc. The role will be \"hands on\" in the first instance (return preparation, implementing streamlined processes etc) with a chance to build a team depending on growth of the organisation. As a subject matter expert you would be also add value working with business leaders to build tax efficiency into transactions so need to be comfortable in this area as well as with more traditional compliance activity. Key Responsibilities Include: Deliver a full range of tax services for our US operations in compliance with laws and regulations Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to provide excellent planning, consulting and expertise Preparation of complex income tax returns Preparation of sales tax returns Manage the group's US tax footprint to identify and mitigate tax risks Preparation of tax accounting provisions and maintenance of tax balances on general ledger Improve processes by developing or implementing best practices Manage and coordinate tax audits Prepare all internal US tax reports on a regular basis and handle all information data requests Skills and Experience Required: Proven work experience in a similar role specialising in US Tax affairs Whilst you are not expected to fully understand all state differences, you will offer a solid foundational knowledge of tax accounting, compliance and all types of tax returns and demonstrate the hunger to plug any specific gaps in the varying state domains as they come up. Knowledge of appropriate tax software and MS Office Good at meeting deadlines and solving problems with a collaborative approach An ability to simplify the complex along with the ability to develop relationships with various levels of stakeholder Analytical skills with detail orientation Relevant bachelors/certification in an Accounting or Taxation field is beneficial.
