Job Description
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Marketing Manager to lead the marketing efforts for our B2B conferences. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in planning, executing, and optimising medium and large-scale industry conferences/ confex, with a focus on driving brand awareness, data growth, delivering scaled delegate audiences and revenues as well as generating leads, and creating exceptional experiences for both attendees and sponsors. This role requires a strategic thinker with hands-on experience in B2B event marketing, excellent project and team management skills, and a passion for delivering high-impact, results-driven conferences.
Event Strategy Development:
1. Develop and implement B2B conference marketing strategies that align with company objectives, industry trends, and audience needs, focusing on lead generation, brand positioning, and customer engagement.
2. Create and execute a robust data strategy to support event growth goals, driving audience engagement and conversion to delegates and subscribers.
3. Collaborate with the subscriptions marketing team to maximize conversion, cross-sell event delegates and subscribers, and build content-driven 365 marketing campaigns.
4. Conduct thorough research to identify potential clients, key decision-makers, and influencers within the exhibition sectors.
Marketing Campaign Management:
1. Plan, execute, and optimise integrated marketing campaigns across multiple channels, including digital, email, social media, content, SEO/SEM, and events.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (sales, product, design, etc.) to ensure consistency of messaging and seamless execution of campaigns.
3. Manage the end-to-end process of campaign development, from concept and planning through execution and post-campaign analysis.
4. Develop operational plans for campaigns, including detailed timelines, budget tracking, and resource allocation.
5. Focus on the growth of Known, Engaged, and Marketable audiences, tracking progress against targets.
Collaboration and Leadership:
1. Lead, mentor, and develop marketing team members, fostering a collaborative, results-driven environment.
2. Provide direction and guidance to junior team members on campaign execution, performance analysis, and skill development.
3. Foster a high-performance marketing culture, ensuring marketing campaigns are aligned with business priorities and executed on time and within budget.
Analysis & Insight:
1. Produce monthly reports on campaign effectiveness and YOY booking curves, changes in customer booking patterns, key growth customer groups etc, highlighting the effectiveness of campaigns and suggesting adjustments based on data insights.
2. Analyse trends in campaign performance over time, providing actionable insights to improve future campaigns.
3. Work with internal teams to ensure compliance with data management and governance policies.
4. Provide accurate weekly and monthly delegate revenue and number forecasts.
Customer and Market Insights:
1. Utilise customer data and insights to segment audiences and personalise marketing efforts for better engagement and conversion.
2. Monitor competitor activities and conduct SWOT analysis to refine marketing strategies and tactics.
3. Conduct customer feedback surveys, focus groups, and interviews to inform marketing efforts and improve the customer experience.
Digital Marketing and Innovation:
1. Stay updated on the latest trends in digital marketing, including social media, content marketing, SEO, paid advertising, and marketing automation.
2. Leverage new tools and technologies to drive innovation and improve marketing efficiency.
Planning & Campaign Execution:
1. Develop and manage marketing budgets, ensuring accurate financial tracking and resource allocation.
2. Coordinate with external suppliers and agencies to execute multi-channel campaigns, including email, SEO, web, and social media.
3. Collaborate with the Senior Marketing Operations Manager to optimize website strategies for lead generation and relevant traffic.
4. Identify target audiences and create tailored marketing campaigns, ensuring alignment with brand objectives and effective audience segmentation.
5. Optimize campaigns using Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) strategies and ensure brand consistency across all marketing materials.
Qualifications
We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, driven, and has a passion to be part of a fast-paced, successful team. Being a strong team player is also important as well as someone who is happy to work flexibly.
1. Experience: 5+ years of experience in marketing, with at least 2 years in a sponsorship or exhibitor-focused marketing role. Experience in the B2B event sector is a plus.
2. Lead Generation & Automation: Strong knowledge of lead generation techniques and experience with marketing automation platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Marketo).
3. Digital Marketing Expertise: Proficient in digital marketing tools (email marketing, SEM, Google Analytics) and data analytics.
4. Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
5. Project Management: Strong project management skills, including experience in budget management, timeline adherence, and resource allocation.
6. Strategic & Data-Driven: Ability to think strategically, solve problems, and make data-driven decisions to optimize campaign effectiveness.
7. Creative Campaign Development: Creative and innovative in designing campaigns that drive engagement and ROI across multiple channels.
8. Event & Marketing Experience: Proven experience in event marketing, particularly within exhibitions, conferences, or similar sectors, with a focus on driving qualified leads.
9. Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field. Advanced degree or certifications in marketing preferred.
