Job description
We're currently seeking an experienced Aftermarket Engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless and cost-effective maintenance and repair of our advanced green tech systems. Working closely with product development and manufacturing teams, you'll contribute to designing, testing, and implementing features that enhance serviceability and reduce downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop a comprehensive technical understanding of our systems, covering mechanical, electronic, and software aspects.
Collaborate with Mechanical and Electronic Design Engineers to optimize hardware product design, emphasizing simplicity, minimal specialized tooling, and detailed technical documentation.
Evaluate serviceability and repairability through the review of drawings/CAD and physical methods, assessing the need for specialized tooling.
Prioritize and raise engineering change requests (ECRs) to optimize the product for serviceability.
Identify and achieve all Aftermarket deliverables.
Define and implement engineering test requests for Aftermarket use cases, creating and maintaining service bill of materials (BOMs).
Author maintenance documentation for relevant mechanical and electrical maintenance procedures.
Act as an engineering escalation point for technicians and field support staff.
Conduct technical interviews for internal and external technicians.
Provide product level training to maintenance providers.
Assist customers over the phone with troubleshooting and repairs, generating reports for field support technicians.
Conduct cost-based serviceability assessments and raise engineering change requests and maintenance documentation (excluding electrical).
Deliver technical training to technicians, analysing technical cases from both internal and external technicians.
Manage the setup of vehicle maintenance units (VMUs).
Design and oversee Aftermarket test rigs as required.
Provide Aftermarket cost forecast analysis on all serviceable parts.
Define onboard diagnostic and cloud-based prognostic solutions.
Lead weekly technical communications with subcontractors and provide support on trials.
Requirements:
Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude with the ability to understand complex systems.
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a relevant field (or equivalent experience).
Experience with CAD and proficiency in reviewing design standards.
Familiarity with service BOMs.
Troubleshooting skills in electrical systems.
Proven experience in serviceability and maintenance from an Automotive, Aerospace or similar market.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to interpret and execute written instructions, working collaboratively within a team.
Positive 'can do' attitude with the ability to work within set timescales.
Design and problem-solving skills for complex issues.
Valid UK driver's license.
