This is an exciting opportunity to work across a huge range of BBC radio programmes and podcasts, listened to by millions in the UK.
In this Publicist role, you’d be leading on publicity for priority BBC Sounds content, championing a wide range of different podcast genres, from gripping drama, factual documentaries, laugh out loud comedy, TV companions, the best music and more. You will be working with podcast commissioners across audio, including Radio 4, 5 Live and pop music. Recent podcast hits on BBC Sounds include Miss Me? with Lily Allen and Miquita Oliver, Worse Than Murder, Young Again with Kirsty Young and Uncanny.
Main Responsibilities
Lead on publicity campaigns across national print and digital platforms to promote priority podcasts, product developments, partnerships, music mixes and special campaigns. You will be responsible for ensuring a wide range of national coverage aimed at the target audience for the campaign, as well as increasing opportunities across social and digital. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, programme makers, commissioners and presenters to advise on them on a publicity strategy, plan events and announcements and maximise coverage.
The publicist will be part of an out-of-hours on-call rota with colleagues which involves available via phone and email one weekend every five weeks.

You’ll have a proven track record of running creative publicity campaigns to secure online, print and broadcast coverage.
You’ll have demonstrable experience of finding innovative ways to promote content to a wide audience, maximising opportunities on social media and online to build interest including with listeners new to BBC content including younger audiences.
You'll be able to create and deliver content ideas for online and on social media.
You'll have a good understanding of the news agenda and cycle, with experience of using that knowledge to quickly spot a potential story and identifying ways to generate coverage, such as writing press release, securing exclusive interviews and issuing assets.
You'll have experience of identifying and effectively managing reputational issues, including providing sound communications advice to senior colleagues and using varied communications tools to defend and enhance reputation, including writing statements on behalf of the BBC.

Contract type: twelve month fixed term contract - contract due to start in April
Location: Office base for this role is London (London Broadcasting House). This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working (2-3 days a week), with home working for the remainder
Salary: anticipated range £30,000 - £35,000pa (plus London Weighting £5,319pa), depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
