We are seeking a full-time nurse (48 hours per week) for shift work across a 24/7 Health Centre, which could include day time hours, evenings (including overnight) and weekends. They will work alongside the Lead Nurse, nurses, GP and the wider school team.
The school nurse plays a vital role in maintaining the health and well-being of students in a boarding school setting. They provide expert medical care, manage day-to-day health needs, and respond swiftly to emergencies. The nurse builds trust with students, supporting their physical and emotional health while offering guidance on wellness and self-care. They collaborate with parents, staff, and external healthcare providers to ensure each student receives individual attention and care. By promoting health education and fostering a safe environment, the nurse contributes to a supportive community where students can thrive both academically and personally.
The Health Centre is a busy professional department that operates from a dedicated facility in the heart of the school site. It is open 24/7 during term time, catering for the needs of pupils and staff during the school day, and supporting the needs of boarders and the wider resident team at other times. The Lead Nurse is supported by two full time nurses along with bank nurses in delivering effective care and support to the wider school community. Boarders benefit from visiting GP clinics twice weekly.
The nursing team works closely with the Deputy Head Pastoral and the pastoral leads to ensure we continue to meet the needs of all of our pupils and provide effective, targeted and appropriate care and advice to our young people and their families.
