We’re currently recruiting for a Transport Shift Manager on the Day Shift for our site in Beeston (near Nottingham). We’re looking for someone to lead our busy operation, ensuring the daily transport plan is executed safely, legally, and on time. You’ll work a 4 on 4 off schedule from 6am – 6pm.
Reporting directly to the Transport Manager, this role is responsible for managing the transport operation, ensuring customer requirements are met and company policies and procedures are followed. You will support the Transport Manager and the contract in developing the site and company procedures while ensuring customer service levels remain high and site teams are managed effectively. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the transport team, ensuring they are managed in line with company policies and procedures.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £32,000 per annum. In addition, we offer 20 days holiday, as well as the option to buy additional days, pro rata for 4 on 4 off. You’ll have access to a variety of high street discounts, a cycle to work scheme, a workplace pension, and many other perks.
What you’ll do on a typical day:
1. Manage a team of drivers across various shifts.
2. Oversee the transport operation.
3. Daily interaction with the management team for our customer.
4. Support the planning of the weekly workload and organizing staff shifts to ensure all runs are covered in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
5. Oversee the execution of the daily plan for all deliveries and collections, keeping the customer updated.
6. Ensure all processes and procedures are followed and that we operate in a safe and efficient environment.
7. Conduct timely and accurate investigations into safety incidents.
8. Provide leadership and guidance for the team and deliver accurate KPIs internally and to the customer.
What you need to succeed at XPO:
Essential: It’s important you have exposure to working in a fast-paced environment – no two days will be the same and we need you to think on your feet.
Essential: You must have experience working in a Transport Shift Management position – managing drivers and office staff.
Essential: Support and encourage a good team working spirit and ensure that all stakeholders work effectively and communicate frequently to achieve the business objectives.
Desirable: Experience in working in Trade Union environments.
Desirable: Have a working knowledge of Transport Legislation / WTD / Drivers hours.
