Who are we? First Subsea, based in Lancaster and part of the First Tech Group, has gone through a major transition in the last five years, transitioning from oil and gas projects to offshore renewables projects where we supply a range of bespoke and patented products, such as; lifting and recovery tools, and cable protection systems. All our products are designed, assembled and tested in-house and we have recently opened a dedicated manufacturing & production facility for our cable protection systems. As demand has grown for the products ad services provided by First Subsea, the need for talented people has also grown in parallel. The Role? Due to continued business growth, we are seeking an experienced CPS Design Analyst to join our team, based in Lancaster on a full time, permanent basis. Performing detailed Orcaflex Cable and CPS analysis, the successful candidate will develop models, optimising and extracting relevant data for further analysis whilst also performing finite element analysis. The ideal candidate will hold a practical understanding of CPS, cab les or flexibles in a Marine environment. You will also hold the ability to apply this to develop and implement CPS best practice dynamic modelling. Responsible for Performing Orcaflex dynamic modelling as required. Perform Fatigue assessments as necessary. Carry out VIV and Flow assessments in accordance with client requirements. Develop and perform stability and abrasion assessments in accordance with client requirements and company standards. Perform Structural, strength and impact analysis, using FEA and traditional methods as required. Carry out Thermal analysis using 2D & 3D techniques. Assess analysis results, peer check and develop robust real-world solutions through optimisation, sensitivity studies and improvements to the analysis platform(s). Liaise closely with the Design Engineers and Project Managers to develop, agree and implement solutions in accordance with client requirements and company policies and procedures. Strive to improve CPS products and CPS systems by assessment of analysis results, reporting to the Design Manager as required. Remain a subject matter expert for our clients, attending meetings and carrying out presentations as required. Liaise with third parties as necessary to develop analysis plans and define scopes of supply to meet client requirements. Ensure continual improvement of company offerings by investigating new technologies or incorporating existing technologies to current company processes. Responsible for eliminating, reducing, or controlling foreseeable Health and Safety risks throughout the design process. Assist with other duties as required. Your Qualifications & Experience? Essential Previous experience in a similar position. Extensive experience within an analysis / Design Engineering environment. Chartered Engineer with an MSC in Mechanical Engineering. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office You? Customer facing / service skills. Ability to build and maintain customer relationships. Ability to identify and incorporate engineer cost reductions. Ability to enhance supplier relationships. Ability to identify and manage business risk. Good communication and presentation skills.
