At Cancer Research UK, we exist to beat cancer.
We are professionals with purpose, beating cancer every day. But we need to go much further and much faster. That’s why we’re looking for someone talented, someone who wants to develop their skills, someone like you.
As part of Cancer Research UK’s Retail & Ecommerce Growth Strategy, we opened our first Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) in 2023, and are proud to now have four distribution hubs and online marketplaces across the UK.
We’re looking for a Warehouse Assistant to join Cancer Research UK’s Online Marketplace team in our Fleet Online Marketplace Hub. Our Online Marketplace Team sort, identify, value, photograph, and list items for sale on our online marketplace platforms (e.g., eBay, Depop, Vestiaire and ASOS). As a Warehouse Assistant, you will be trained in all aspects of the online marketplace, which includes stock receipt, discovery, photography, listings, and customer experience.
This will be an interesting and active role as part of a supportive and diverse team where you’ll discover something new every day, whether it’s a new treasure, a new camera angle, or a talent you never knew you had. This is an opportunity to work in your local area for one of the UK’s most trusted brands as part of a collaborative team while handling a variety of pre-loved and both low and high-value fashion and textile items. We can offer you a purpose-driven role with 25 days of annual holiday + public holidays, paid sick leave, and career progression opportunities across the whole organisation.
What will I be doing?
1. Unpacking deliveries and sorting items into the correct categories.
2. Researching items where required to check if the value meets the requirements.
3. Taking high-quality photos as per brand guidelines.
4. Creating accurate descriptions of each item to enable accurate listing.
5. Working to agreed daily targets for photography.
6. Ensuring all listings have an accurate and enticing description.
7. Using the correct keywords in the listing to attract customers.
8. Preparing customer orders for dispatch – this includes lifting and moving stock of different weights and sizes where appropriate.
9. Picking, packing, and sorting sold items within the dispatch department.
What are you looking for?
1. Background in working in fast-paced environments that require stock processing and standing for prolonged periods (e.g. retail, hospitality, logistics, warehousing, etc).
2. Interest in buying or selling on online marketplaces either in a personal or professional setting (e.g., eBay, Depop, Vestiaire, ASOS etc).
3. Experience working to meet targets/KPIs with excellent time management.
4. Excellent eye for detail with a proven ability to work effectively under pressure whilst maintaining high standards.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. A collaborative team player.
7. Good awareness of brand and buying trends with an interest in or previous experience with fashion or non-fashion (i.e. jewellery, accessories, antiques, or collectables etc) brands.
Our organisation values are designed to guide all that we do.
Bold: Act with ambition, courage, and determination.
Credible: Act with rigour and professionalism.
Human: Act to have a positive impact on people.
Together: Act inclusively and collaboratively.
We’re looking for people who can believe in and embody these organisation values and can use them to drive forward progress against our mission to beat cancer.
If you’re interested in applying and excited about working with us but are unsure if you have the right skills and experience, we’d still love to hear from you.
