Joining our established and expanding Nuclear team as a Senior Mechanical Engineer, means engaging in a diverse and growing array of both international and UK-based projects. Your responsibilities will extend to client interaction, crafting bids and proposals, and overseeing project delivery in line with AECOM's standards for quality, safety, and environmental care.
In this key position, you'll spearhead the design and execution of sophisticated, high-specification systems, ensuring project objectives are met with precision. The role demands a grasp of engineering design and project management fundamentals as well as a proven track record in navigating and completing complex projects effectively.
Here's what you'll do:
* Oversee engineering design and project activities, ensuring adherence to approved models.
* Manage and mentor junior team members, assigning and ensuring delivery of tasks.
* Comprehensive design work, including 3D modelling, functional calculations, and the production of manufacturing documentation.
* Apply expertise in handling fissile materials, utilizing 3D CAD systems, and effective data management.
* Contribute to all phases of project development from mechanical sketches and scheme models to commissioning and project review meetings.
* Collaborate closely with Project Managers to estimate project timelines accurately and communicate changes in project scope.
* Contribute to HSE standards and QA audits, reporting any non-conformities or uphold incidents as required.
Qualifications
The successful Senior Mechanical Engineer will have:
* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
* Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards it.
* Significant experience in mechanical engineering, particularly within the specific industry (e.g., nuclear, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, utilities).
* Experience of managing and delivering complex engineering projects, from design to completion.
* In-depth understanding of the specific sector's standards, regulations, and best practices.
* Exceptional communication ability.
You will also be self-motivated with an ability to work both autonomously where required, with a strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn, and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline-driven team environment.
