Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Audiology department at County Hospital. We are looking for a caring, motivated and passionate audiologist to join our friendly team on a full time basis.
The successful candidate will work as a Band 5 audiologist helping to deliver excellent patient centred assessments, hearing aid fittings and follow up appointments, whilst participating in the development of new ways of working in order to enhance the excellent service we currently provide.
If you have a BSC qualification in Healthcare Science Audiology or equivalent, along with NHS experience, we would be delighted to welcome you into the department.
Main duties of the job
* On adults and children plan and undertake diagnostic audiological procedures without supervision and recommend appropriate care plans.
* Analysis, assessment and interpretation of a broad spectrum of adult diagnostic and rehabilitation, and some paediatric test results.
* Manage rehabilitative patient caseloads utilising care plans on a direct referral basis where appropriate.
* Perform tinnitus assessment and counselling for routine adult patients.
* Refer for specialist audiological testing and/or referral to other health professionals where judged appropriate.
* Selection of adult hearing aid prescription and hearing aid systems relevant to patient’s individual audiological requirements.
* Ensure maximum effectiveness of hearing aid systems meeting individual patient criteria.
* Work alone for significant periods of time at local clinics.
* Undertake ward and domiciliary visits.
* Participate in areas of specialised clinical practice, under the direction of senior audiological staff, after in-house training and/or specialist courses – e.g. Paediatric Audiology (VRA/Under 3 testing), Bone Anchored Hearing Aids.
* Supervise and support junior audiology staff, apprentices and university students.
* Implement teaching programs to facilitate audiologist-training programs as planned and directed by Senior Audiology Department staff.
* Support the more senior audiology staff with day-to-day management of the department.
* Assist with organisation of the department’s workload.

Person specification
* BSC in audiology or equivalent
* Previous experience of adult audiology assessment
* Previous experience of fitting routine hearing aids to adults
* Previous experience of working in NHS audiology department at Band 5 level
* Previous experience of assessing children aged three years and above
* Ability to successfully counsel tinnitus patients
