About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Finance Controller to join our dynamic finance team. The Finance Controller will play a key role in overseeing the financial operations of the organisation, compliance, audit processes and to provide leadership to the finance team. This position is ideal for a professional who is ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with strong knowledge of UKI financial regulations, accounting principles and financial reporting standards. We are looking for a “hands on” individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to driving the financial success of the company.
Your Experience:
1. Excellent financial analysis and concise reporting skills
2. Strong technical accounting knowledge
3. Team management and development experience
4. Recognised accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA) or nearing completion
5. Relevant sector experience
6. Skilled in producing year-end statutory accounts and managing audits in complex, multi-site organizations
7. Experience with grant accounting
8. Extensive knowledge of financial processes, procedures, and systems
9. Proficient in leading month-end processes and ensuring timely data submission for monthly management accounts
10. Payroll data management for external accountants
11. Understanding of commercial accounting and Gift Aid
Job Role:
1. Financial Management: Oversee daily financial operations (payroll, pensions, banking, ledgers), ensure compliance with statutory requirements, and prepare financial statements and reports for senior leadership.
2. Audit & Compliance: Act as the main point of contact for auditors, manage the audit process, ensure legal compliance (tax, gift aid), and conduct internal audits.
3. Strategic Leadership: Provide financial advice for long-term planning, develop models for operations and fundraising, monitor financial performance, and manage grant and investment reports.
4. Team Leadership: Lead and develop the finance team, oversee recruitment and training, and promote financial literacy across the organization.
5. Systems & Process Improvement: Improve financial systems, processes, and tools for better efficiency and transparency.
6. Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal teams and manage relationships with external partners (auditors, banks, regulators).
