This post will be for a fixed term period of 12 months in the first instance, to help carry out surgical procedures and breast clinics at Queen Alexandra Hospital. There are additional opportunities for the successful candidate to be involved with the surgical management of thyroid disease and skin cancer, if desired. The breast unit carries out screening and symptomatic assessments, treating about 700 cancers annually and is an ABS/BAPRAS accredited National Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Training Centre. The duties will consist of out-patient clinics, theatre work and contribution in the MDT meetings. Opportunities to get involved in research, audit, and innovation projects will be provided with close consultant supervision. There is no on call required. Experience in breast clinical work is desirable but additional on-going training will be provided if required. Education and training within the department is strongly encouraged.
