The Midwifery Inpatient Matron holds an important professional role assisting the Head of Midwifery for the delivery of maternity services locally at Pilgrim Hospital. Providing strong and inspirational leadership to help influence and change the development of these services in Lincolnshire in the hospital setting.

Main Duties of the Job
With the Head of Midwifery, oversee the development, facilitation and implementation of appropriate training and development programmes for midwives, nurses and support staff that enhance practice and care whilst meeting Trust objectives and Government initiatives.
Line manage the inpatient Band 7 midwives ensuring robust systems and processes that ensure there is a continuing improvement in the quality of the service provided to women and their babies, safety to staff and visitors to the Trust's premises. Help drive change for the benefit of both women and their families, and the staff who provide this care.
Job Responsibilities
Lead the 24-hour provision of high-quality women-centred care across the maternity inpatient areas (Boston). Act as an expert resource and role model for the team within their service to support them in the delivery of effective care.
Be responsible for ensuring a good environment in which all women and families receive a high standard of care which is compassionate and takes account of their individual needs and wishes.
Demonstrate clinical leadership in the management of both low and high-risk complex maternity care.
As a key member of the specialty triumvirate team, you are jointly responsible with the clinical lead and Clinical Service Manager / Operational Service Manager for the provision of safe, effective and efficient Inpatient Maternity Services for women at Boston.
The post holder will have full managerial responsibility and accountability for the Inpatient Services and their staff. He/she will provide professional, clinical, managerial leadership throughout the Clinical Business Unit.

Qualifications Essential
* Registered Midwife
* Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience in relevant subject
* Management and leadership development and training
* In-depth understanding of service transformation and development, acquired through post-graduate diploma or equivalent experience
