Job Title: RTS Focus Technician (Make Plant)
Location: Port Sunlight Factories (Site Based)
Days - Monday to Friday
JOB PURPOSE
The primary focus of the FT role is on professional maintenance and secondary focus on focused improvement. The job holder is accountable for mean time between failure, the overall maintenance plan for their work area, and ultimately the performance in the making plant.
The role holder is responsible for completion of Emergency Work Orders (EWOs) to root cause using World Class Manufacturing methodology (WCM) and ensuring that countermeasures are fully implemented.
The role holder conducts focused improvement work in their area to support the performance and operational efficiency of the making plant in which they are accountable. The FT acts as company contact and manages permits for their area and supports the wider focused technician team in this regard.
The main expectation of the role holder is to work flexibly during the week to ensure they are driving performance in the making plant, leading the PM activities in the plant, and ensuring that operators are working to the AM standards to maintain basic conditions to prevent breakdowns. The minimum qualifications for this role are skilled, instructed, and instructed; however, all role holders are encouraged to reach skilled, skilled instructed level.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Health, Safety and Environment includes:
* Identify and report health or safety hazards & dangerous situations and put appropriate control measures in place.
* Ensure LOTO is followed by all, training others as required.
* Conduct hot work permits in their area.
* Be a Company Contact in their area.
* Encourage ALL to behave in a safe manner and challenge unsafe behavior.
2. Quality includes:
* Ensure equipment is capable to manufacture products in accordance with quality procedures and standards, using process control techniques where applicable.
* Perform agreed Quality improvement activities monitoring and controlling key process parameters to measure success where applicable.
3. Customer Service includes:
* Prioritize and complete improvement activities to improve equipment efficiencies with a view to increase overall department throughput.
* Perform improvement activities on changeover times to reduce losses per changeover.
* Identify and implement agreed improvement opportunities to increase the production plant flexibility.
4. Cost includes:
* Lead improvement activities to improve efficiency and reduce costs, supporting operators to complete kaizens as required.
* Implement cost optimization activities eliminating losses that may not impact on OEE (e.g., yield, energy, and spare parts).
5. 5S includes:
* Ensure 5S standards are clearly defined and followed in your area.
6. Autonomous Maintenance includes:
* Support the AM activities (e.g., cell meetings, step audits, board updating).
* Transfer technical knowledge to technical operators in plant with program.
7. Preventative Maintenance includes:
* Ensure breakdown analysis for all component failures using the EWO process and the implementation of countermeasures to eliminate root causes has been completed.
* Ensure the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are reviewed and the gap analysis is carried out on a regular basis to understand and input into the improvement plan.
8. Focused Improvement includes:
* Ensure the losses are being recorded and classified accurately challenging and supporting others to correct errors.
* Regularly monitor and analyze unit loss trees to identify loss patterns and take action to eliminate gaps.
* Identify and lead improvements from top loss re-occurring breakdowns.
9. Training and Development includes:
* Ensure all relevant personal skills are displayed on team skills matrix.
10. Early Management includes:
* Maintain equipment Technical Documentation, updating with all improvements or modifications made.
* Actively participate in design reviews and MP workshops.
* Lead relevant plant changes using appropriate project management tools to ensure efficient and successful project management.
* For larger projects, support the project team on the new equipment or product projects and support a vertical ramp up and changes to all applicable procedures.
11. General includes:
* Support excellent internal communications between all teams via logbooks, activity boards.
* Proactively support WCM pillar activities providing feedback and promoting application on the site.
* Maximize the use of any downtime to carry out maintenance, improvement activities, and training.
* Ensure cover at all times through working effectively with colleagues in line with our site working agreements using line manager as point of escalation if required.
* Individuals are expected to take responsibility, be skilled, motivated, and committed to delivering business objectives and the continual development of people.
ALL ABOUT YOU
* OSHE - Risk Assessment, 80/20 System, SOL and THA process, Accident analysis, Machinery isolation, Permit to work procedure.
* WCM - 7 tools, Kaizen, PM, AM, FI.
* Maintenance Techniques - Condition based monitoring, FMEA, Predictive techniques: oils analysis, thermograph, vibration, Asset management, Ensure the work area is back to original conditions after engineering activities.
* Mechanical/Electrical - As a minimum must be at a Skilled Level in one discipline either Mechanical or Electrical and at an Instructed Level in the other discipline. Technical Qualification (formal engineering apprenticeship (dual skill) advanced diploma or equivalent + NVQ 3 in both disciplines.
