Salary: £36,742.15 - £50,000 Full Time Equivalent
Job Type: 37 Hours per week, 52 Weeks per year, Full-Time Permanent

About the role:
As the Health & Safety Manager at City of Portsmouth College (COPC), you will ensure that the arrangements onsite adequately protect people and the environment while meeting legislative obligations and departmental requirements. You will develop and strengthen the site Safety & Environmental Management Systems while leading and managing relevant staff with H&S responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the Occupational Health Safety and Environment (OSHE) department, fostering a strong safety culture and continuous improvement.
* Provide safety assurance and advice to senior management.
* Manage and ensure that the highest standards of Health and Safety are maintained.
* Create, implement, review, and manage health and safety related policies and procedures.
* Assist in the creation, reviewing, and approving of risk assessments and method statements.
* Manage the incident/accident reporting procedure and conduct H&S investigations.
* Undertake site inspections and report on findings.
* Facilitate H&S audits.
* Maintain the college legal compliance register and other H&S software platforms.
* Review contractors RAMS as per the college control of contractors’ procedure.
* Conduct H&S training and toolbox talks.
* Attend and chair H&S management review meetings.
* Work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure smooth running of health and safety at all sites.
To be successful in this role, below is what we would need from you:
* Currently based within commuting distance.
* Proven experience within a mid/senior H&S role.
* NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent).
* NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management.
* ISO 45001 auditing qualification.
* Environmental management experience.
* Full, clean UK driving licence.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Excellent IT skills and experience in Microsoft Office/365.
* Ability to communicate confidently with people at all levels.
* Initiative-taking and able to work under pressure.
* Articulate in written and oral English communication.
