You will ensure the wellbeing of residents by supervising, maintaining, and developing the standards of care within the House. Your responsibilities include participating in direct care activities as outlined by policies and procedures, and ensuring the highest level of Child Care Practice. You will use appropriate methods and techniques of Social Work intervention to meet the needs of residents.
Essential qualifications include holding an SVQ 3 and an HNC in Social Care or an equivalent qualification at SCQF Level 6. There is potential to achieve SVQ Level 4 in Social Care. Candidates should have experience working directly with children in a residential setting, report writing, and preparing care plans. Knowledge of National Care Standards, childcare practice, legislation, and the SSSC code of practice is required. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. The role involves carrying out restraints, managing stressful situations, leading and supervising a team, organizing and delegating tasks, motivating others, and ensuring a safe environment for looked after children.
A flexible approach to work is necessary, including the ability to work shifts, weekends, and cover for other staff as needed. You must be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) or achieve registration within 6 months of appointment. A driving licence and knowledge of child development are desirable.
This post is temporary, subject to business needs and funding, for 12 months or until the requirement ceases, whichever is earlier.
