Mowi Feed is the feed manufacturing division within Mowi, the Global leader in salmon farming, processing and marketing. Having entered production in June 2014, Mowi Feed has quickly established itself as a competitive supplier of salmon feed playing a key role in supporting Mowi Farming in its delivery of high quality, nutritious, safe and sustainable salmon. Currently operating from its factories in Kyleakin, Isle of Skye in Scotland and in Valsneset in the Trøndelag Region of Norway, Mowi Feed has an annual production volume in the order of 500,000 tonnes per year. We manufacture a broad portfolio of conventional and organic feeds for both fresh and seawater phases of salmon growth in Scotland, Ireland, the Faroe Islands, Iceland and Norway. The Role – Process Technician Mowi Feed is seeking to develop suitable candidates to take on the exciting and challenging tasks of an expansive, dynamic and international manufacturing environment. The feed plant runs 24/7-365 and the successful candidate will be required to participate in a shift rota. The duties undertaken will include: Monitoring and optimising the production of fish feed from raw ingredients through to the loading of finished feed; both physically and digitally via control software Delivering measured and timely process parameter changes to achieve products that conform fully to product specifications Quality control, which includes the testing of the feed pellets being produced and analysing/recording the findings within an IT-centred laboratory system Requires the ability to efficiently manage a schedule of routine procedures, identify and instigate corrective actions and be competent to make recommendations on improvement. Coordinating repair work with the Maintenance team and carrying out routine maintenance/cleaning of process equipment. Ensuring work areas are maintained to a high standard Ensuring adherence to Company Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures Supporting other operational departments when required Qualifications/Skills Prior on-the-job experience of a similar nature, or a theoretical education ranging from Master/Bachelor level to Apprenticeships and Certificates in relevant areas, for example process, chemical, mechanical, manufacturing engineering, food safety. Good communication skills which requires fluency in English, both written and spoken Well-developed IT skills, including a proficiency with MS Office and bespoke IT systems. The post holder also requires to demonstrate: a proactive and flexible approach to the role, and a commitment to continuous improvement, an ability to handle unexpected challenges, an ability to work independently and/or as part of a team, the right attitude and a mindset supporting our vision and values, An entrepreneurial spirit to further improve working methods and tools. Open to working rotating shift patterns. Preview experience of working in a feed or food manufacturing environment is an advantage, but training in feed manufacture will be provided to successful candidates. Familiarity with the principles of QC/QA testing would also be desirable, with prior laboratory experience being an advantage.
