An exciting opportunity has arisen for a secondment role within the Band 6 team at Same Day Emergency Care unit. We are a workforce who aim to rapidly assess, diagnose and treat medical ambulatory patients, delivering acute care swiftly while avoiding hospital admissions where appropriate. We assess patients referred from Primary Care, the Emergency Department (ED), Community Services, internal ward follow-ups, and other referrals from all members of the MDT.
The service runs from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 20:00, Saturdays 08:30 to 17:00.
Main duties of the job
As the Band 6, you will be expected to:
* Ensure that the patient has a high-quality experience during their journey as set out in the medical directorate core values of nursing care document.
* Coordinate the shift on a day-to-day basis within the unit including deployment and supervision of staff (including Bank and Agency staff) to ensure safe skill mix of staff.
* Develop, implement, and evaluate individual programmes of care.
* Provide support and supervision for junior staff and facilitate positive staff welfare.
* Contribute professional leadership and advice to the ward nursing team.
* Act as a positive role model to junior staff.
* Actively promote and ensure the patient safety first campaign is understood and applied in the unit.
* Deal sensitively with the emotional needs of the patient, relative, and staff.
* Support the Acute Referrals Team which takes calls from predominantly Primary Care to triage patients into the hospital to encourage consistency and ensure the right patient goes to the right place at the right time.
* Use technology to accurately document communications and actions carried out.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse, 1st level.
* A teaching qualification e.g. ENB 998.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.
* A relevant post-basic course.
* A Degree in Nursing or a related field.
Experience
* Experience working as Senior Staff Nurse - Band 5 in medical and surgical experience.
* Supervisory experience.
* Involvement in Clinical Audit.

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 per annum (pro rata).
